Cecil O. Fuquay graduated Palm Beach High June of 1938, joined the local National Guard. Enlisted in the Army in 1940 and was promoted to Sergeant at Camp Blanding, Florida. Attended OVS & Partrooper training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. 8/15/1942 - 10/31/1943 and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He died in the attempted liberation of Holland, Sept 24, 1944.
The story that campaign and his death are told in the book "Four Stars of Hell" the whole campaign is portrayed in the 1977 movie, "A Bridge Too Far."
Cecil O. Fuquay is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida
